Apple Mac Pro 或會配備 M2 Extreme 晶片，帶來高達 4 倍的效能提升
搭載伺服器級處理晶片的 Mac Pro 是 Apple 個人電腦系列中在定位上最強的一員，但目前使用 M1 Ultra 晶片的卻是橫空出世的 Mac Studio。據 Bloomberg 的 Mark Gurman 在他的電子報 Power On 中爆料說，Apple 似乎終於找到給 Mac Pro 升級的新晶片了。Gurman 引述消息表示，Apple 正測試一款 24 核心 CPU、76 核心 GPU、192GB 記憶體的高階桌機，相信就是新版 Mac Pro 了，同時更認為最終的兩個晶片選項，會是大家預測到的 M2 Ultra，以及全新的 M2 Extreme。
Gurman 所獲得的消息是指 Mac Pro 會有 24 核心和 48 核心 CPU 的選項，GPU 為 76 / 152 核心，記憶體更會高達 256GB之多，效能將會較 M2 Max 再提升 2 到 4 倍之多（但三個晶片型號到今天都還未正式發表）。

在 Mac Pro 和配套的晶片出來之前，Gurman 相信 Apple 會先發表更新版的 14 吋和 16 吋 MacBook Pro、Mac Mini，同時帶出 M2 Pro 和 M2 Max 晶片，藉此舖路給更強的機款。然而 Mac Mini 有指只會有 M2 晶片版本，M2 Pro 版本雖有在經過測試，但卻沒有推出的計劃。
